    Chana on NCDEX settled down triggered by ample stocks at spot market following an improvement in supplies after the government took steps to check rising prices. As per sources there is increased supply of pulses in the market with the harvesting of new pulses being improved. Meanwhile, about 1.23 lakh tons of pulses seized from hoarders have been disposed-off in the open market so far to boost supply and contain rising prices.

    Oilmeals exports fell by 74 per cent to 53,866 tonnes last month due to a sharp fall in soyabean and rapeseed meal shipments, industry body SEA said.The country had shipped 2,08,436 tonnes of oilmeals, used as animal feed, in the same period last year.

    Cotton production in India during the next season that is 2016-17, could reach around 370- 380 lakh bales, said the Chairman, Cotton Corporation of India (CCI).

    Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) in its second advance estimates, has revised the cotton production estimates downwardly for the season 2015-16 at 306.92 lakh bales (of 170 kg each).

    The Foreign Agriculture Services (FAS), division of USDA has lowered the production forecast for India in its latest report to 356 lakh bales.
