    Retail Sales Trend

    Retail sales trends have been better than expected for two straight months, leading analysts to believe sales will be up in December. (Read more at Millennium-Traders.Com)

    Economic data released today:

    Retail Sales:
    U.S. November Retail & Food Sales rose 1.3%; compared to consensus of an increase by 0.7%; U.S. November Retail & Food Sales Ex-Autos rose 1.2%; October Retail & Food Sales Revised to rise 1.1% from an increase by 1.4%.

    Import Price Index:
    U.S. November Import Prices rose 1.7%; compared to consensus of an increase by 1.4%; U.S. November Non-Petroleum Import Prices rose 0.7%; U.S. November Petroleum Import Prices rose 6.2%.

    University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index:
    Mid-December Sentiment 73.4; November 67.4; Mid-December Current Index 79.1; November 68.8; Mid-December Expectations 69.7; November 66.5; 12-Mo Inflation Forecast rose 2.1%; November rose 2.7%; 5-Year Inflation Forecast rose 2.6%; November rose 3.0%.

    Business Inventories:
    Business Inventory Increase in October Marks First Since August 2008; U.S. October Business Sales rose 1.1%; U.S. October Business Inventories rose 0.2%; Expected to fall 0.2%; U.S. October Business Inventory/Sales Ratio Dips to 1.30; U.S. October Retail Inventories Unchanged; U.S. October Retail Inventory/Sales Ratio 1.40, down from 1.42.
