Strong Surge on Light Volume Triggers Gain in U.S. Equities

    U.S. equity markets finished higher on Thursday following a last hour surge. Trading was light and directionless most of the day as traders evened up positions ahead of tomorrow’s U.S. Non-Farm Payrolls Report.

    The market opened higher this morning led by the 4.8% gain in China’s Shanghai Index overnight, but weakened following the release of a weaker than expected U.S. ISM Services Report.

    The strength in U.S. equity markets today put pressure on the Treasury futures. Trading was limited ahead of tomorrow’s employment report. Most of the bigger players were on the sidelines.
